About Us

We turn challenges into solutions.

At 3dvisionlabs, we believe technology should make life easier, not more complicated. Our work centers around solving real problems — not creating new ones. We focus on simplicity, reliability, and long-term value, building AI vision systems that seamlessly fit into industrial environments. For us, innovation means understanding our customers deeply and crafting solutions that truly work.

Innovation made in Saxony

Home of 3dvisionlabs is Chemnitz in the German federal state of Saxony. The Chemnitz-Zwickau region, cradle for the German automotive industry is the traditional heart of Saxony’s economy. With a century-long history of industrial culture the Free State is a great place for researchers, engineers and entrepreneurs.

Chemnitz is also great for recreation. For example, the Ore Mountains, a UNESCO World Heritage mining region, are close to our headquarters. A great place for hiking, cycling and above all skiing.

Science has shaped 3dvisionlabs from the start: our founders met in computer vision research at Chemnitz University of Technology, and our first product line, HemiStereo®, grew out of years of stereo vision research. Research is still part of our daily work – today in multi-view camera geometry and calibration, and in bringing current AI models onto industrial edge cameras.

3dvisionlabs was awarded with the seal “Innovative through Research” for the years 2020 to 2023, honoring the company’s commitment to research and education.

The Founders

With his stereo vision research Michel laid the foundation of HemiStereo® and still leads our research on multi-view camera geometry and calibration. If you just learned about 3dvisionlabs, you might have met Michel at a conference or on a trade show floor.

Michel Findeisen

Co-Founder & CEO

With his engineering background and his passion for clean design Lars is responsible for our company’s visual appearance – both in terms of our physical products and our corporate identity. As our CEO Lars leads Hardware Development and Product Design.

Lars Meinel

Co-Founder & CEO

As a passionate, multi-talented software engineer and a persistent problem-solver Markus single-handedly developed the core of our real-time embedded camera software. If you’re a developer and work with our SDK or tool chain anything you get in touch with bears his signature.

Our Story

Every innovation has its story — and so do our industrial edge cameras. Born from a vision to push 3D technology forward, our team has grown into a powerhouse of embedded AI and industrial automation expertise. Today, we create products and solutions that transform industries.

2012

Our founders join forces at Chemnitz University of Technology, collaborating on research and publications in 3D stereo vision and related applications, including human pose estimation and indoor navigation.

2017

With support from the EXIST Business Start-up Grant, 3dvisionlabs GmbH is officially founded in August. The mission: develop a new omnidirectional stereo vision camera and bring it to market, targeting applications such as indoor navigation, public safety, and smart retail.

2019

The German technology start-up fund, Technologiegründerfonds Sachsen (TGFS), invests in 3dvisionlabs GmbH, accelerating growth and product development.

2020

Having grown to a team of ten, 3dvisionlabs launches its first product, HemiStereo® DK1, marking its entry into the commercial 3D vision market.

2021

Market feedback drives a strategic pivot toward industrial automation. With HemiStereo® NX, 3dvisionlabs introduces the first high-resolution omnidirectional depth-sensing camera designed specifically for mobile robots.

2022

3dvisionlabs discontinues its stereo and 3D cameras to focus fully on industrial 2D edge cameras.

2023

The company launches its first 2D edge camera, C7. While this shift from 3D to 2D may appear dramatic, it represents a natural evolution: leveraging a decade of expertise to build AI-enabled cameras for industrial applications.
