This white paper briefly reviews the major concepts and characteristics of con-ventional rectilinear stereo vision in the context of Intelligent Video Analytics (IVA). The text further conveys the advantages of ultra-wide 3D vision using fish-eye lenses. The presented scientific concepts form the foundation of the HemiStereo® depth sensing technology.
